Will Wes Lunt play vs. Texas? Oklahoma State not saying

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy did not reveal the status of Wes Lunt on Friday, despite a promise to provide an update on the injured quarterback's knee.

The school had instituted a new policy this season to issue injury reports, a practice not required by the NCAA. According to the Associated Press, Oklahoma State released an advisory that it was would no longer disclose injuries because “those reports have led to unintended consequences.”

Wes Lunt was injured early in the game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 15 and was replaced by J. W. Walsh, who would pass for 347 yards and four touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 65-24 win. For the season, Lunt has completed 68 percent of his passes for 588 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Walsh and Lunt present two different challenges for opposing defenses and coaches to prepare for, with Lunt primarily being a drop-back, pocket passer while Walsh is more of a duel-threat quarterback. Walsh had 73 yards rushing on six carries for the Cowboys against Louisiana-Lafayette.

Oklahoma State faces the No. 12 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, with kickoff set for 7:50 p.m. ET on Fox.
