The Texas Tech Red Raiders have started their 2012 season with a bang, putting up some of the best defense in the nation through three weeks for a 3-0 record. They can't afford to be too cozy though, as the Iowa State Cyclones have put dents in them for two straight seasons. Last season's 41-7 loss particularly stung, following a huge win over Oklahoma that had raised hopes for a season that ended up resulting in a losing record and no bowl.

A win over the Cyclones would not only break a losing streak for Texas Tech against Iowa State, but it would provide a good springboard for a tough schedule that follows which includes games against Oklahoma, West Virginia and TCU. The Red Raiders defense will provide far more of a challenge for the Cyclones attack than Tulsa or Western Illinois -- against Iowa, the Cyclone offense struggled in a low scoring 9-6 affair.
Game time, TV channel: 7 p.m. ET, Fox College Sports
Point spread: Texas Tech favored by one point.
