Kentucky’s beating South Carolina, and the whole SEC’s gone sideways

Not a single SEC game from Saturday makes a lick of sense so far.

Jeff Blake-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

At halftime in Lexington, the Kentucky Wildcats are beating the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks, 17-7. This happened despite Steve Spurrier saying during the week that Carolina is better than UK (it is) and that the Cocks could still lose anyway (they apparently can).

Late in the second quarter, Spurrier elected to go for it on fourth down. The ball went sailing over Connor Shaw's head, setting up near-disaster, though the Cats couldn't convert. Still, a former UK coach weighed in:

Elsewhere!

  • LSU trailed Towson until just before halftime.
  • Georgia and Tennessee combined for 95 points.
  • Preseason top-10 Arkansas fell to 1-4.
  • Texas A&M won a game in the SEC (PAWWWWWWWWWWWL).
  • Missouri played at UCF.
At this rate, watch out for Ole Miss, Nick Saban.
