Michigan State got Ohio State game tape late after apparent mistake

According to the Detroit Free Press, Michigan State received their game film from Ohio State late. In addition to it not being on time, the footage had reportedly been doctored.

Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi has claimed that the game tape the Spartans received from Ohio State was late and had been doctored. The Big Ten Conference requires that teams provide game film of their previous games to their upcoming opponents, but when OSU failed to provide their film on time, MSU contacted their previous opponents to get the film on their own.

Ohio State eventually provided the game film on Thursday, and when they did it had reportedly been significantly altered. Narduzzi had the following to say about the state of the footage they received (via the Detroit Free Press):

“We had tape cut off all week, where they changed the tape, I’m not gonna lie to you. They send you tape and they’ve got it all cut off and you don’t get to see shifts or motions or anything else. A few other teams we talked to that they played, and we compared what they were looking at on tape to what we were looking at. We’re like ‘We don’t see any of that. We see it on their tape but not on our tape.’ So that’s something I’m sure the Big Ten office will hopefully take care of.”

The matter will likely not be dealt with by the Big Ten, as the Free Press is also reporting that the two universities have already dealt with the matter between themselves. They had no word on any details of the meeting between Gene Smith and Mark Hollis on the matter.
