The NCAA has added eight members to its Infractions committee, according to Al.com. Former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr and Georgia president Michael Adams are among the new names that come from a variety of backgrounds. The NCAA says the move is to allow the committee to handle more cases and process more efficiently.

Joing Carr and Adams will be former Georgia Tech basketball coach Bobby Cremins, Federal Energy regulatory commission director of enforcement Norman Bay, former Bowling Green and Kent State President Carol Cartwright, Iowa State senior vice president of student affairs Thomas Hill, former Minnesota athletics director Joel Maturi, and Princeton university counsel Sanker Suryanarayan.
Nobody has ever accused the NCAA as being efficient in the past, often taking long periods of time to hand down decisions on potential infractions. Many are likely hoping this will be a step towards a speedier and more consistent process in the future.
