The Bison blew open the game in the second half against the Bearkats, clinching their second straight FCS playoff crown.

Brian Bell and Chris Grett combined to throw four interceptions for the Bearkats, effectively killing their chances to stay close to the Bison.
The two teams were neck and neck in the first half, and went into the halftime break tied at 10. However, North Dakota State outscored Sam Houston State 28-3 in the second half, powered by two touchdowns a piece from Brock Jensen and Sam Ojuri.
Jensen was outstanding for the Bison, throwing for 115 yards, and rushing for 44 yards and three touchdowns. Ojuri led the team with 92 yards on the ground, and punched in two touchdowns.
Sam Houston State was able to move the ball fairly effectively, but the turnovers destroyed any chance they had at winning. Bell threw for 255 yards and a touchdown, but running back Tim Flanders was limited to only 53 yards on the ground.
