Four 2014-2019 American Athletic Conference bowl game ties announced

Future AAC bowl representatives will get to travel to either Hawaii or Fort Worth with these newly announced ties.

American Athletic Conference

The American Athletic Conference made several announcements regarding their bowl game ties for upcoming seasons on Thursday.

The first announcement is in regards to existing bowls -- the AAC will continue to play in the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl and the BBVA Compass Bowl. In the former, the AAC representative team will have an opponent from the ACC or Conference USA, while the latter will have an AAC-SEC matchup.

In addition to these renewed affiliations, the AAC will send a team to either the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl (in 2014, 2016 or 2018) or the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl (in 2015, 2017, and 2019). The Armed Forces Bowl will pit an AAC team against Army in 2014, or a Big XII team in 2016 or 2018. The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl will be an AAC-Mountain West showdown.

With these announcements, the AAC now has three automatic bowl bids.

There will likely be more to come, as reports have indicated that three new bowl games are being created for non-power conferences like the AAC.
