Rutgers senior defensive back Lew Toler went down early in the first quarter of Thursday night’s Rutgers-Louisville game with an apparent arm injury. After spending several minutes lying on the field, Toler left shortly after that on a cart with his arm heavily wrapped, and did not return.

Toler's injury leaves the Scarlet Knights dangerously thin in the secondary -- Rutgers entered the game against Louisville already without cornerback Gareef Glashen, and losing Toler robs them of some much-needed experience in the back end of the defense.
Making matters worse is the fact that Rutgers is facing a Heisman favorite and arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Teddy Bridgewater, who comes into the game with a sparkling 16:1 TD:INT ratio. The task of stopping -- or even slowing -- Bridgewater becomes dramatically more difficult with Toler out.
The fifth-year senior and graduate student transfer ranked fifth on the team with 24 tackles entering the game, and was second on the team with four passes broken up.
