Louisville leads Rutgers 10-0 early in the second quarter

The No. 8 Louisville Cardinals lead Rutgers 10-0 early in the second quarter at Papa John's Stadium. The Cardinals drove 65 yards on 11 plays in their first drive of the evening, but stalled out after a holding penalty left them with first and goal at the Rutgers 13-yard line. Louisville made a short field goal three plays later to take the lead.

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater then hit receiver Kai De La Cruz for a 34-yard touchdown on the first drive of the second quarter to extend the Louisville advantage.

Bridgewater has completed five of his first seven pass attempts for 82 yards and a score. Cardinals running back Senorise Perry has 27 yards on five first-quarter carries, while De La Cruz and Damian Copeland each have two receptions for the AAC frontrunners.

Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova is also 5-7, but has just 29 yards and threw an interception to set up Louisville's touchdown. The Scarlet Knights are managing the loss of defensive back Lew Toler, who was carted off the field with an apparent arm injury in the first quarter.
