Will USC’s Marqise Lee play vs. Notre Dame? Kelly’s planning for it

The return date for Lee remains uncertain, but the Irish aren’t taking any chances.

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee suffered a knee injury during the Trojans' loss to Arizona State on Sept. 28, and that kept him out of the team's game against Arizona last Thursday. Lee is considered questionable for the Notre Dame game this Saturday, according to interim coach Ed Orgeron, but Notre Dame's Brian Kelly is preparing as though Lee will suit up.

“We’re assuming he’s going to be in the ballgame,” Kelly said, via Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune.

Lee was on the practice field Sunday doing some running, which is an encouraging development for the Trojans, but he was not able to participate in practice on Monday.

Were Lee able to play against the Fighting Irish, he would provide USC’s unsteady offense with a weapon it sorely needs. Lee is averaging six catches per game in 2013 and has 385 receiving yards, which leads the team despite his absence against the Wildcats.
