GSU players have taken a stance against the athletic department in recent weeks, and as the program continued to deal with serious financial issues, the student-athletes reportedly decided earlier in the week that they would not travel to play Jackson State on Saturday. Instead of flying to games on charter flights, the team has been taking a bus to save money and was denied a new rubber floor in its weight room after being promised one earlier in the year.
Jackson State will offer refunds to anyone who had purchased tickets. Any of the Homecoming events already scheduled will go as planned, and the team will host an open scrimmage on Saturday.
