Georgia’s Josh Harvey-Clemons, Chris Conley won’t need surgery

The Bulldogs got some relatively good news on the injury front Sunday.

Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons and wide receiver Chris Conley won’t require surgery for the injuries they suffered against Vanderbilt, head coach Mark Richt said Sunday, and they may be able to play against Florida on Nov. 2. Richt also is optimistic that running back Todd Gurley and receiver Michael Bennett will play against the Gators.

Conley, who leads the team with 418 receiving yards, injured an ankle on the final play of the game. Harvey-Clemons, who is the team’s third-leading tackler, suffered a foot injury against the Commodores.

Georgia has been hit hard by injuries all season, especially at the skill positions. Wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1, while receiver Justin Scott-Wesley and running back Keith Marshall were lost for the year on Oct. 5. So the Bulldogs have been forced to play without several of their top wide receivers as well as their top two running backs in recent weeks, but some relief appears to be on the way, finally.
