College football news: Jackson State suing Grambling State, Texas still without QB
In other news, Grambling and Jackson State are going to fight it out in court, Texas heals up for TCU, and Florida loses yet another player for the season.

An internal review by West Virginia has cleared football assistant Joe DeForest of wrongdoing related to his time as an assistant at Oklahoma State. DeForest was named in a breathlessly reported five-part Sports Illustrated scandal story on the OSU football program.
WVU has not found any infractions of NCAA rules or other misconduct at our institution. WVU is unable to comment on the veracity of the media allegations levied against the assistant coach while employed at another institution, and defers to that institution, as well as appropriate NCAA infractions personnel, to complete a review and assessment of those allegations.
The report’s authors specifically alleged DeForest had paid Oklahoma State players for performance.
DeForest, now associate head coach and special teams coordinator for Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia, denied the allegations, and the SI report has since been largely discredited.
Jackson State suing Grambling State over boycotted game
Administrators at Jackson State have announced that they intend to sue Grambling over financial losses due to the Tigers forfeiting Saturday’s game at JSU. Grambling football players refused to participate in this week’s game, sending a letter to Grambling officials detailing abuses like excessively-long bus trips, mold and mildew in team facilities and the abrupt termination of their head coach earlier this year.
Unfortunately for Jackson State -- and, now, Grambling -- the forfeit came on JSU’s homecoming weekend, potentially causing “millions of dollars” in damage to JSU. And now the two schools, which were unable to resolve differences on the football field Saturday, will go to a courtroom instead.

Texas
The Longhorns got a much-needed off week, and the time off should allow senior safety Adrian Phillips and sophomore linebacker Dalton Santos to return to action this weekend against TCU. Phillips suffered a stinger, while Santos had an injured elbow.
Texas quarterback David Ash remains out, however, and tackle Josh Cochran could be a gametime decision for Mack Brown.
Florida
Gators linebacker Jeremi Powell has suffered an ACL tear and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season. Powell, who featured on Florida’s special teams unit, is the eighth Gator to suffer a season-ending injury this year and the fifth Florida linebacker to miss time.
UNLV
Rebels running back Tim Cornett is doubtful for the team’s Mountain West Conference game against Nevada Saturday. Cornett is nursing a right knee injury suffered in UNLV’s loss to Fresno State last weekend. Cornett has 709 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the season.
Bowling Green
Falcons wide receiver Chris Gallon suffered a season-ending knee injury against Mississippi State two weeks ago, coach Dave Clawson announced. After a stellar freshman season in 2012, Gallon had regressed through the 2013 season-to-date, managing 24 catches for 232 yards so far.
