Notre Dame defensive tackle Louis Nix will III reportedly miss this weekend’s game against Air Force with knee tendonitis, according to head coach Brian Kelly. Nix has been battling various injuries coming into this one, including a shoulder injury he got against USC, but will not make the trip to Colorado this weekend due to ongoing issues with his knee, particularly.

The good news is that the Irish are not likely to need him too much -- they are currently listed as 20 point favorites against the Falcons, and should roll fairly easily.
Nix, a senior and projected high pick in next year’s NFL draft, has 22 tackles (two for loss) this season, to go with two passes defensed. Those numbers don’t quite capture the impact he has in Bob Diaco’s 3-4 scheme, though -- the massive defensive tackle is an integral part of a unit that ranks 40th in the country in total defense.
