Here’s everything you need in order to catch the game between Clemson and Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
After a quick start, the Terps have lost two of three, including a blowout defeat at the hands of Wake Forest last week. The injury bug is killing Maryland’s depth once again -- standout receivers Stefon Diggs and Deon Long suffered serious leg injuries against the Deacs, putting them on the shelf for the rest of the season.
The absence of those two guys puts a significant dent in Maryland’s upset hopes.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Clemson is 6-1 (4-1), ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll, No. 10 in the Coaches’ Poll and No. 9 in the first edition of the BCS standings. Unranked Maryland is 5-2 (1-2) on the year. Clemson is 33-26-2 against the Terps all-time.
Vegas: Clemson opened as a 13-point favorite.
Weather: The high in College Park is expected to hit 54 degrees Fahrenheit. No rain is in the forecast.
Three names to know
Tajh Boyd -- Boyd leads the ACC in passing yardage, ranks second in touchdown passes with 16 and has the third-best passer rating in the league. He has thrown just two interceptions in 222 pass attempts this season.
C.J. Brown -- The Terps still have Brown, who is in the midst of a solid senior campaign. He has accounted for 13 touchdowns, and he is averaging an impressive 9.2 yards per pass attempt.
Sammy Watkins -- Watkins remains one of the ACC's top playmakers at any position, and he leads Clemson with 650 receiving yards. He's caught a touchdown in each of his last four games, and he's gone over the 100-yard receiving mark in three out of Clemson's last four contests.
Two things at stake
Clemson may have lost both a shot at the national championship and a shot at an ACC title when it got blown out by Florida State. The Tigers still have bowl positioning to play for, and they can’t be completely ruled out of the Atlantic Division hunt, though overtaking FSU might be unlikely at this stage.
Maryland needs one more win to get itself bowl eligible, and considering how shaky the Terrapins have looked in recent weeks, a victory would give them a much-needed morale booster as they head down the stretch in their final season as members of the ACC.
