With all due respect to the Panthers, this one looks like it’s destined for a lopsided, running clock-type of blowout. Georgia State has yet to win a game this year, and in its only FCS matchup, the Panthers lost 41-7 to West Virginia, which has struggled mightily on offense this season.

Alabama, on the other hand, is rolling on nearly all cylinders and coming off a 25-0 strangling of Ole Miss last weekend. If the situation permits, they’ll be trying to get through this one without any further injury to their starters. The only question seems to be whether or not they will cover the insanely high spread.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Alabama won the only previous matchup between these two teams, blowing out the Panthers 63-7 in 2010.
Vegas: Alabama is a 55.5 point favorite. The over-under is 58 points.
Weather: Clear skies are expected around kickoff with temperatures in the mid-80s. There is a 10 percent chance of rain.
Three names to know
T.J. Yeldon (Alabama running back) - Though he has run behind a struggling offensive line, Yeldon's production hasn't dropped off too badly. He's still averaging 6.0 yards per carry and is coming off of a 121 yard performance against Ole Miss. Yeldon won't have his starting center blocking for him in this one, though -- Alabama will be missing Ryan Kelly for at least two weeks due to an MCL injury.
Christion Jones (Alabama wide receiver) - Jones made his presence known against Virginia Tech with a pair of return touchdowns, and leads Alabama in receiving yardage. A.J. McCarron's favorite target is a threat every time he touches the ball.
Albert Wilson (Georgia State wide receiver) - The senior from Port St. Lucie, Florida has over 130 receiving yards in every game he has played this season. A similar performance will be needed if Georgia State is to have any hopes of a win, and as Texas A&M's Mike Evans showed, these Alabama corners are vulnerable.
Two things at stake
Alabama has nothing to gain from a win here, but everything to lose -- their next real test comes November 9th against LSU, but they have to reach that game without being tripped up by Georgia State, Kentucky, or Arkansas. None of those games look too challenging, as of now.
Georgia State, on the other hand, could make history with an upset win, perhaps the largest college football has ever seen. This season has already had a handful of victorious FBS teams, so it isn’t without precedent...
