You can tell Charlie Weis is a good coach because he somehow managed to turn a BCS-caliber Notre Dame team into a 6-6 team in just five years and because he’s already doubled Kansas’ win total from one to two wins in 2013.
Charlie Weis, tactical genius, goes for awful fake punt
Kansas had Texas Tech on upset alert, so Charlie Weis did something about it by calling a horrible fake punt that went horribly.
He looked to be on the verge of extending that to three wins after going up 10-0 on Texas Tech, but Weis wouldn’t have that stand. He called a fake punt on fourth and 13 from his team’s own 16-yard-line.
It gained a whole yard! We’re all against avoiding punts in cowardly situations, but, um... Charlie?
The Red Raiders would score two plays later to make it 17 unanswered. And that’s how to end an upset alert.
