Maryland vs. Florida State 2013 final score: Jameis Winston, Seminoles destroy Terps, 63-0

Maryland was completely dominated on both sides of the ball on Saturday, dropping their first game of the season.

Jameis Winston and the Florida State Seminoles embarrassed Maryland on Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 63-0 win to improve to 5-0 on the young season.

The Seminoles came out a bit sloppy in the first quarter and led just 7-0 heading into the second. Winston and the FSU offense took off shortly after, though, torching the Terrapins defense through the air with ease. Winston connected with Kelvin Benjamin in the closing seconds of the half to push the lead to 21-0 and the rout was on from there.

Winston threw for three more touchdowns in the third quarter, including this incredible 12-yard strike to Nick O'Leary in the corner of the end zone.

Even when the Seminoles pulled their starters, Maryland was unable to get much of anything going. Florida's state offense continued to cook, too, as backup quarterback Jacob Coker took the ball 24 yards to the end zone untouched to push the lead to 63 midway through the fourth quarter.

If the afternoon wasn’t bad enough for Maryland, quarterback C.J. Brown left the game after taking a big hit to the chest.

Box Score Hero: Winston finished his way with 393 passing yards, five touchdowns, no interceptions and 24 rushing yards while completing 23 of his 32 pass attempts. His Heisman hype is only going to get louder after Saturday’s performance.

As a team, Maryland tried to run the ball 25 times and finished with 43 rushing yards. Florida State had 614 total yards of offense.

Rankings Ramifications: It was an impressive win for Florida State. That being said, one of the seven teams ranked ahead of them will likely need to lose in order for the Seminoles to move up. Maryland will drop out of the Top 25.

But Did They Cover? FSU covered the 16.5-point spread with ease. They also broke the over-under line of 57 or 58 points all by themselves.
