Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State 2013 final score: Cowboys hang on for 33-29 win

A couple of late takeaways helped Oklahoma State beat Kansas State on Saturday afternoon.

Oklahoma State came out on top, 33-29, over Kansas State on Saturday afternoon in what was a back-and-forth affair. Neither team led by more than seven points in the game, and it wasn’t until the Wildcats threw an interception with about four minutes to go that the game appeared to lean one way or the other.

Oklahoma State took a 17-14 lead into the half and a 23-21 lead into the fourth quarter, but Kansas State pulled ahead 29-23 with a touchdown and successful two-point conversion with about six minutes left in regulation. The Cowboys answered with a clutch touchdown drive of their own to reclaim the lead, 30-29, then intercepted Kansas State quarterback Daniel Sams on the Wildcats' subsequent drive.

OSU turned that into a field goal, pushing its edge to 33-29. Kansas State’s last-gasp drive ended with an interception in Cowboys territory that was nearly returned for a score.

Box Score Hero: Daniel Sams threw for 181 yards and ran for 118 more, accounting for three touchdowns in the process. But he also threw three interceptions, two of them at crucial points late in the fourth quarter. OSU quarterback J.W. Walsh finished 24-of-38 for 245 yards and a score.

Rankings Ramifications: Oklahoma State was the only ranked team coming in, and could move up a spot or three after this victory, depending on how the weekend shakes out.

But Did They Cover?

Oklahoma State came in as at least a 13-point favorite depending on the sportsbook and was not able to cover.
