Oklahoma dominated on defense to scrape out a 20-17 over TCU on Saturday night. TCU managed just 210 yards of total offense on the night, 75 of which came on the Horned Frogs last drive of the game.

A defensive struggle suddenly broke into a shootout later in the fourth quarter, and Oklahoma hung on for a 20-17 win over TCU.
Oklahoma stifled TCU in the first half. The Horned Frogs did not achieve a single first down on their way to six punts on six offensive possessions. The Sooners took a 13-0 lead into intermission, scoring on two Michael Hunnicutt field goals and an 8-yard Trey Millard run to cap an 84-yard drive. It wasn't a dominant offensive half for Oklahoma, but the Sooners appeared to be in cruise control thanks to their defense.
TCU made things close in the second half, however. They quickly turned momentum, forcing two straight Oklahoma 3-and-outs before getting on the board with a long field goal drive. On the ensuing kickoff, they surprised the Sooners with an onside kick, which they recovered. Six plays and 35 yards later, TCU scored its first touchdown on a 2-yard Trevone Boykin plunge.
TCU couldn’t keep momentum going, however. The two teams traded punts until, suddenly, things got a little crazy.
Oklahoma finally broke a big play. Oklahoma’s Brennan Clay ran 76 yards to the end zone on the second play after a TCU punt to give the Sooners a 20-10 lead late. The run was the longest of the senior’s career.
The play seemed to wake up TCU. The Horned Frogs answered right back after looking anemic on offense on consecutive series. On the first play of the drive, Boykin threw a 45-yard pass to David Porter to put the Horned Frogs on the 30-yard line. They moved their way within the 10-yard line and Boykin capped the drive with an 8-yard run for his second touchdown of the day.
Oklahoma was able to get the first downs they needed to eventually run out the clock on their last possession, however.
Box Score Hero: Brennan provided the play of the day and finished with an impressive 111 yards and one touchdown on nine carries on the ground.
Rankings Ramifications: Oklahoma will need some help from teams ahead of them in the polls to move up. They are ranked No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 10 in the Coaches poll.
But Did They Cover? Oklahoma entered the game as 10-point favorites, so they failed to cover.
