The Clemson Tigers had very little trouble with Syracuse over the weekend, rolling to a 49-14 win to remain perfect on the season. Tajh Boyd had a huge game, throwing for 455 yards and five touchdowns. And whenever the Tigers needed a stop or takeaway, it seemed like they just about always got it.

The guys over at Shakin The Southland were really pleased with the way the team avoided any distractions off the field. The only real frustration they had was Clemson’s refusal to run the ball routinely, though that was a minor quibble for what was a very enjoyable day.
Tajh played very well, again putting up Playstation like numbers until he and the starters were pulled well before the final horn sounded. The offensive performance in the first half was very impressive and obviously attributed to Boyd's sharp play and clear mismatches with Clemson's pass catchers against Syracuse's very questionable secondary. Adam Humphries and Sammy both had monster games combining for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Martavis Bryant contributed with 79 yards of his own. I will say that I'd like to see a better effort running the football. Clemson and The Chad seem bent on getting away from running the football. Part of that is likely due to the lack of push the Clemson offensive line provides-no doubt. That has to improve and has been an issue in Tigertown for many years now.
Things weren’t as enjoyable for the Syracuse faithful. Despite having a pretty strong home field advantage at the Carrier Dome, the Orange were unable to get much of anything going offensively. Our ‘Cuse blog, Nunes Magician, did think the defense played pretty well, though.
To their credit, the defense fought back and gave the offense the chance to try and get back in the game. However, turnovers and penalties wouldn't let it happen. Terrel Hunt played a legitimate defense for the first time and he certainly paid for it. The shine is off, but maybe that's a good thing long-term.
Next up for Clemson is a home meeting with Boston College. They’ll need to avoid overlooking the Golden Eagles with a huge showdown with No. 6 Florida State waiting in the wings. As for Syracuse, they’ll look to get back on track at North Carolina State.
