Howard spoke with media members Tuesday afternoon.
The Volunteers and Bulldogs were tied, 31-31, and Tennessee had the opening possession of overtime. On 2nd-and-goal from the 7, Howard rushed around right end toward the end zone. He dove for the pylon, but the ball slipped out of his hands and rolled out of the end zone, turning the ball over to Georgia. Four plays later, Bulldogs kicker Marshall Morgan connected on a 42-yard field goal to give his team a 34-31 win.
“Things happen, and there’s nothing I can do about it now,” Howard said. He added that, in hindsight, he maybe would have lowered his shoulder and taken on the defender, as opposed to diving for the goal line.
Howard caught four passes for 70 yards and gained 46 yards on six carries against Georgia.
