Georgia’s Justin Scott-Wesley charged with marijuana possession

Scott-Wesley is already out for the season with a knee injury.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia wide receiver Justin Scott-Wesley, who is out for the year due to a torn ACL, was arrested on marijuana-related charges Thursday afternoon, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was released after posting $4,000 in bond three hours later.

University of Georgia Police officer Matt Browning searched Scott-Wesley’s dorm room Wednesday evening after housing personnel noticed the smell of marijuana coming from his room. Browning found a glass pipe and a grinder, which had marijuana residue, leading to a possession charge. The wide receiver was cited for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession/use of a drug object. An arrest warrant was issued Thursday morning, and Scott-Wesley turned himself in at 4:19 p.m. ET.

The redshirt sophomore tore his ACL during the Bulldogs’ 34-31 win over Tennessee on Oct. 5. Because he won’t play again this year, there’s a good chance he’ll be suspended for Georgia’s 2014 season opener against Clemson.
