Tuesday college football schedule: Game times, TV coverage for Week 12 MACtion

Here is the schedule for Tuesday and what you need to know to watch the Buffalo-Toledo and Ohio-Bowling Green games.

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE

For the second straight Tuesday, MACtion ushers in the beginning of the week's college football slate. This week, it's Toledo trying to give Buffalo its first conference loss and Ohio taking on Bowling Green in what amounts to an East Division semifinal. If Buffalo and Bowling Green win their respective games, it would set up a showdown between the two schools on the last week of the season to determine the winner of the MAC East.

All four teams are bowl-eligible, so America should be in store for some graduate-level MACtion--and it’s all happening within a 26-mile radius along I-75 in Northern Ohio.

The numbers

Rankings and records: None of these four teams are ranked, but Buffalo might have a legitimate argument, should it keep winning. The Bulls are 7-2 on the year, and their only two losses have come at the hands of top-5 teams -- No. 3 Ohio State and No. 5 Baylor.

All four teams still have legitimate shots at winning their divisions, but Ohio will be eliminated from the MAC East championship race if it loses or Buffalo wins.

Vegas: Betting opened with Bowling Green favored to beat Ohio by nine and Toledo to beat Buffalo by 3.5.

Weather: It will be a chilly night in Bowling Green, Ohio, with temperatures dropping to the mid- to low-30s by kickoff. Conditions will be about the same in nearby Toledo.

Three names to know

Branden Oliver -- Oliver is an absolute wrecking ball in Buffalo's backfield and is the kind of running back who only gets stronger as the game wears on. He only averages four yards per carry in the first quarter, but ratchets up his production to six yards per carry by the third.

Tyler Tettleton -- Ohio's senior signal-caller has bounced back with a strong 2013 season (17 touchdowns, 8.5 yards per attempt) following a minor step backward in 2012. Tettleton is considered a legitimate NFL Draft prospect, so you're definitely going to want to keep your eyes on him.

David Fluellen -- Toledo has ridden its senior running back for 1,067 yards on 152 carries for an astonishing 7.02 yards per carry average.

Two things at stake

Buffalo could emerge from Tuesday night with a two-game lead on Bowling Green with the hapless Miami (Ohio) RedHawks on deck, or the Bulls could find themselves in a dead heat with the Falcons entering a season finale with Bowling Green that would determine the winner of the MAC East.

In the West, Toledo has already suffered a loss in MAC play, so it desperately needs to knock off Buffalo in order to keep pace with Ball State and Northern Illinois, both of which have yet to lose a conference game.

How to witness

TV: Buffalo and Toledo will appear on ESPNU at 7:30 p.m. ET. Ohio and Bowling Green will be available on ESPN3.
