Marcus Mariota will play through MCL injury

Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota says that he will play on Saturday against Utah despite aggravating an MCL injury during Thursday’s loss 26-20 loss to Stanford. Mariota is thought to have initially injured his left knee on Oct. 26 against UCLA. Mariota was held to a season-low -16 rushing yards against Stanford, the worst performance in his two-year career. By comparison, Mariota ran for 89 yards during last year’s loss to the Cardinal.

Tyler Murphy 'game time' decision against South Carolina

Florida might be without quarterback Tyler Murphy when the Gators travel to Columbia for their last, best chance at ensuring that they will become bowl-eligible in 2013. Offensive coordinator Brent Pease said on Tuesday that Murphy, who injured his shoulder on Oct. 12 against LSU, will be a 'game time decision' for Saturday's matchup with South Carolina. Redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg would start if Murphy isn't able to play.

Dak Prescott 'questionable' against Alabama

The odds of Mississippi State pulling off an upset of No. 1 Alabama were already slim, but they got even slimmer when Dan Mullen announced that quarterback Dak Prescott is considered 'questionable' for Saturday's game against the Crimson Tide. Prescott injured his elbow during the fourth quarter of the Bulldogs' 51-41 loss to Texas A&M. Tyler Russell is listed as the starting quarterback on Mississippi State's latest depth chart.

Toledo, Bowling Green win big in Tuesday night MACtion

Tuesday night was setting up to be one of the most competitive, highest-stakes nights of MACtion in recorded MACtion history. Instead, Toledo and Bowling Green blew out Buffalo and Ohio, respectively, by a combined margin of 100-41. With the win, Toledo still has a chance of winning the MAC West if it can beat Northern Illinois and catch a few breaks. The Nov. 29 meeting between Bowling Green and Buffalo is now set up as a de facto MAC East championship game.

CFB playoff committee members will serve 2-4 year terms

Though we already knew which people would comprise the first College Football Playoff committee, we did not know until Tuesday how their ongoing involvement with the committee would be determined. We learned that the 13 current members will have their terms expire over a staggered four-year period. Jeff Long, Dan Radakovich, Ty Willingham, Steve Wieberg and Tom Jernstedt will serve on the committee the longest of anyone in the current group. Their terms will run through February of 2018.
