Bob Stoops is one win away from tying the Oklahoma record, but as far as former Sooners coach Barry Switzer is concerned, the two are as good as tied atop the OU victory list. Without much regard for Iowa State, Switzer tweeted his congratulations to Stoops for win No. 157:
Barry Switzer congratulates Bob Stoops for beating Iowa State (before the game is played)
Barry Switzer isn’t too concerned with Oklahoma’s game against the Cyclones.
Since everyone beats ISU at home, I want to be the first to congratulate @OU_CoachStoops on tying the record of 157 wins! #coachescabana

Well, there’s no way to misinterpret that comment. Switzer has never been lacking in confidence, as he showed in an interview with SB Nation earlier this year, and he doesn’t appear to be getting any more humble as he ages. While he’s happy to see Stoops tie his career win mark, Switzer does lament a few ties that maybe should have been three or four more wins:
“See, you don’t have ties today,” Switzer said with a laugh. “I look at the freaking ties. My ties - without a doubt - should’ve been three wins.”
Not only can Stoops tie Switzer in overall wins at Oklahoma, he can exceed the former coach’s victory total against Iowa State. Both coaches have eight wins without a loss to the Cyclones, but one of Switzer’s four ties came against ISU.
