College football Top 25 polls, Week 13: Ohio State, Baylor battle for No. 3

Stanford and Georgia fall after heartbreaking losses, while Baylor sees their national title dreams come a little bit closer. We’ll have all three human polls here as they’re released, and we’ll link to the full BCS standings when they’re released after 8:40 p.m. ET.

Bradley Leeb-USA TODAY Sports

After falling 20-17 to unranked USC, Stanford ended up being the weekend’s biggest loser, falling in all the week’s polls. Baylor was the prime beneficiary of Stanford’s fall, while the Trojans returned to the ranks of the top 25 with their upset victory.

The Cardinal lost on a late field goal to the Trojans, allowing Baylor, Oregon and Auburn to move closer to the national title berth they’re hoping for. All three teams would need a lot of help for those dreams to actually occur, but getting a one-loss Stanford out of the way certainly can’t hurt.

We’ll add each human poll here as it’s released Sunday.

Texas, which had just re-entered the polls last week, dropped out again after their 38-13 loss to Oklahoma State. Also falling out of the polls were Miami, which lost 48-30 to Duke, and Georgia, who fell in a 48-38 heartbreaker against Auburn.

Because of those losses, several new faces are moving up from the Also Receiving Votes underworlds. Minnesota was off this weekend, but was able to move up thanks to the chaos around them, and traditional basketball power (and new ACC Coastal favorite!) Duke, which improved to 8-2 on the year, saw their first top 25 ranking since 1994. Ole Miss also returned to the rankings, thanks to a 51-21 victory over Troy.

Expect the top four in the BCS to hold steady this week, with Ohio State and Baylor likely following Alabama and Florida State. We’ll see how it shakes out Sunday night.
