Texas head coach Mack Brown “is not in any trouble,” according to attorney and Longhorns booster Joe Jamail. In an interview with the Austin American-Statesman, Jamail said the decision to remain in the position is up to Brown.

Whether or not Mack Brown is at Texas next season might be up to the head coach.
“Mack will decide when he goes,” said Jamail, who talks to Brown daily. “There are so many rumors spread on the Internet these days, but he is not in any trouble. I would know it. I think he may decide to stay or go, but he hasn’t decided yet.”
And when might he decide?
“I have no idea,” Jamail said.
Speculation regarding Brown’s ouster in Austin picked up when Texas got off to a 1-2 start this season. The Longhorns, who some predicted to be BCS contenders, opened with a lopsided win over New Mexico State, but followed up with consecutive losses to BYU and Ole Miss. Amid giving up a combined 84 points against the Cougars and Rebels, Brown made a switch at defensive coordinator, replacing Manny Diaz with Greg Robinson. They went on to win six straight conference games, including a 36-20 thrashing of Oklahoma, before losing Saturday, 38-13, to Oklahoma State.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Nick Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, told a former Texas Regent that the Alabama head coach would consider moving to Texas. Saban has denied any interest. His assistant coaching staff received pay raises three months after the reported contact between Sexton and the Regent, but the meeting apparently did not affect the financial bump.
