Georgia’s Todd Gurley, Florida’s Dante Fowler get in a scrap

It’s time for the World’s Largest Outdoor Amateur Wrestling Match!

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia halfback Todd Gurley and Florida defensive end Dante Fowler skirmished after a Gurley run during the third quarter of Georgia’s game with Florida Saturday. After Gurley was tackled, Fowler apparently put a finger into the Bulldog’s facemask.

Gurley tried to pull away, and Fowler shoved him:

Georgia players stepped in to defend Gurley, Florida linebacker Ronald Powell and defensive lineman Leon Orr got into the fray, and we were playing the feud:

Gurley reportedly threw a punch at Orr from the bottom of the pile:

Eventually, the referees assessed each team an unsportsmanlike conduct. There was no penalty against Gurley for the punch, and he remains in the game.

The teams went at it again just a few plays later. Bulldogs defender Josh Harvey-Clemons committed an obvious horse collar tackle on Gators wide receiver Solomon Patton near the Florida sideline:

Florida’s sideline did not appreciate the gesture, for obvious reasons.

The flags came out again, this time for a litany of penalties:

Georgia leads 23-12 late in the third quarter.
