College football news: USC no longer a ‘dictatorship,’ new wrinkle emerges in Winston story

Despite being photographed pointing a sword at band nerds on Saturday night, Ed Orgeron is not a dictator.

Oregeron doesn’t run USC like a dictatorship, player says

Immediately after Lane Kiffin was fired as Southern Cal's head coach, stories began to came detailing the tension between Kiffin in his players. Current USC safety Dion Bailey added some more color to that narrative by going on ESPN radio and saying that Ed Oregeron "doesn't really run the program as a dictatorship," a statement that -- whether Bailey realizes it or not -- heavily implies that Kiffin did run the program as a dictatorship.

Another wrinkle in the Winston case

A representative of the woman who accused Jameis Winston of sexual battery contacted the Tallahassee Police Department and said that she had changed her mind and did not wish to prosecute Winston, but the woman's attorney later referred to the incident as "her rape." The investigation file on the incident is not available to the public because the TPD received new information that caused the case to become reactivated.

UCLA OT Torian White arrested for sexual assault

Torian White has been indefinitely suspended from the UCLA football team following his arrest for sexual assault. White broke his ankle on Oct. 3 during the Bruins’ game against Utah and was expected to be out for the remainder of the season. No details about the incident are currently known.

Buffalo, Kent State cruise in Tuesday night MACtion

Buffalo blew out the hapless Miami (Ohio) Redhawks by a margin of 44-7, putting the Bulls into a de facto MAC East championship game against Bowling Green on Nov. 29. Kent State finished out its disappointing 2013 campaign with an upset win over Ohio, which is now in danger of getting passed over for bowl game despite having reached the six-win mark.

Gay ex-Boilermaker opens up

Dorien Bryant played wide receiver for Purdue from 2005 to 2007, during which time he concealed his homosexuality from teammates, despite an ex-boyfriend's attempt to out him. In an interview with Philadelphia Magazine, Bryant says that he had "a solid six or seven" teammates who "would definitely get into bed with a guy," even if they didn't self-identify as gay.
