Texas A&M, Arizona State to play in Houston in 2015

The home of the Houston Texans will host a non-conference college football game between the Aggies and Sun Devils.

Thomas Campbell-USA TODAY Sports

Texas A&M and Arizona State are all set for a non-conference game that will be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Sept. 5, 2015. The two schools had been negotiating this matchup for a while, and the contracts were approved on Thursday.

A lot can change in a couple of years, of course, but as the programs stand now, it looks like this will be one of the better early-season games of the 2015 season. Both Arizona State and Texas A&M are 8-2 in 2013 and they are ranked among the top 20 in the BCS standings. The Sun Devils are on track to reach the Pac-12 title game.

Arizona State has been making an effort to play games in the state of Texas for the sake of recruiting -- that was one reason why the Sun Devils worked to add this game against the Aggies. ASU played Notre Dame at Cowboys Stadium earlier this season.
