How to watch The Citadel vs. Clemson 2013: Preview, TV schedule, odds and more

Here’s all the information you need in order to catch the game between the Bulldogs and Tigers.

Tyler Smith

Clemson has an important game against South Carolina on the horizon, which means, not surprisingly, that the Tigers scheduled a patsy the week before. In this case, it’s The Citadel, an FCS team with a losing record. The Tigers should be able to take care of the Bulldogs without having to break a sweat, which of course is the entire point.

The Citadel is one of the top rushing teams in the FCS, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Clemson just saw a triple-option offense like theirs last week. That’ll make it considerably more difficult to catch the Tigers off guard.

The numbers

Rankings and records: The Tigers are 9-1 (7-1) on the season, ranked sixth in the Coaches Poll and seventh in the AP Poll. The Citadel is 5-6 (4-4). Clemson is 30-5-1 all-time against The Citadel.

Vegas: [no line as of Sunday afternoon]

Weather: A high in the mid-60s is expected, and there is a chance of rain.

Three names to know

Roderick McDowell -- Tajh Boyd bruised his collarbone and sternum against Georgia Tech on Nov. 14, and if he's held out this week, the Tigers may lean more heavily on the ground game. McDowell should be the primary beneficiary, if that happens. He leads the team with 737 rushing yards this season.

Ben Dupree -- Dupree leads the Bulldogs with 939 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. He doesn't throw the ball often, and when he does he isn't particularly successful. He'll have to keep The Citadel offense on schedule through the running game if the team is going to put up any sort of fight on the scoreboard.

Sammy Watkins -- Watkins has had 100+ receiving yards in each of his last three games and caught two touchdowns in each of his last two. Another big day is definitely a possibility for the standout, who is nearing 1,100 yards receiving on the year.

Two things at stake

Clemson will not be going to the ACC title game this season, thwarted once again by Florida State. The Tigers are in good shape to earn an at-large BCS bid, though, especially with FSU in line to play for the BCS title. This game against The Citadel shouldn’t be in doubt for long, which sets up the aforementioned season-ender at South Carolina, which will be crucial.

This is the end of the line for the Bulldogs, who will have to somehow find a way to win in order to avoid a losing 5-7 campaign.

How to witness
