How to watch Michigan State vs. Northwestern 2013: Preview, TV schedule, odds and more

The Spartans look to improve to 7-0 against the Big Ten while the Wildcats look to end a six-game losing streak.

Saturday’s game between Michigan State and Northwestern features two teams headed in opposite directions. The Spartans are on a serious roll right now, winning six in a row to get off to a 6-0 start in conference play. Northwestern, on the other hand, is 0-6 against the Big Ten despite being close in just about every game they’ve played.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Michigan State comes in ranked 13th in the BCS with a 9-1 record. Their lone loss came against Notre Dame back in September. Northwestern has lost six in a row after a 4-0 start.

Vegas: The Spartans will be favored by seven points. The over/under is 41.5 points.

Weather: It’ll be a chilly day for football at Ryan Field with temperatures in the 30s at kickoff.

Three names to know

Connor Cook - Cook won't blow anyone away with his arm strength, but he's very efficient on the field. He's thrown for 1,683 yards, 14 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2013.

Jeremy Langford - Langford is the go-to option for MSU on the ground, leading the Spartans with 926 yards and 13 touchdowns on 199 carries.

Kain Colter - Colter does it all for Northwestern. He's thrown for 571 yards and four touchdowns, carried the ball 113 times for 487 yards and five touchdowns, and can also go out and catch a pass or two.

Two things at stake

Michigan State is on track to play Ohio State for the Big Ten championship. They just need to keep winning and they’ll not only get that shot, but also continue rising in the BCS standings.

Northwestern’s season has been turned upside-down after a promising start. A four heartbreaking losses in a row, an upset win would be huge for the team’s morale.
