How to watch Nebraska vs. Penn State: Preview, TV time, odds and more

The Cornhuskers and Nittany Lions meet Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska and Penn State square off for the 15th time in history Saturday at Beaver Stadium, and the Nittany Lions will try to avenge a 32-23 loss to the Cornhuskers last year.

Nebraska is coming off a 41-28 loss to Michigan State, which snapped a two-game winning streak for the Huskers. They put up 392 yards and 19 first downs, which is admirable considering the Spartans’ stout defense, but MSU was able to dominate time of possession and convert 11-of-21 third-down chances.

The Nittany Lions are trying to break a trend of alternating wins and losses. They knocked off Purdue, 45-21, last week, but they haven’t claimed back-to-back victories since the first two games of the season. In that back-and-forth stretch, they’ve lost to Central Florida, Indiana, Ohio State and Minnesota.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Neither team enters this contest ranked. Nebraska (7-3, 4-2 B1G) holds a slim 8-7 advantage in the all-time series with Penn State (6-4, 3-3).

Vegas: The Nittany Lions are two-point favorites, according to Odds Shark, and the over/under is set at 51 points.

Weather: The Saturday forecast in State College, Pa., calls for a high of 40, a low of 24 and a 30-55 percent chance of precipitation as the afternoon turns into evening.

Three names to know

Nebraska sophomore Randy Gregory has been a terror to opposing teams, compiling 12.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks this season. He'll be key in stopping Penn State's offense before it can get started.

The Nittany Lions running back duo of juniors Bill Belton and Zach Zwinak has been solid out of the backfield, combining for 1,521 yards and 17 touchdowns rushing. Belton has the advantage in yards (796), but Zwinak has been the bigger scoring threat with 12 TDs. They both average 15 carries per game.

Two things at stake

Nebraska could still tie for the Big Ten Legends Division title, but another loss would eliminate the ‘Huskers. Penn State is ineligible for postseason play, but the Nittany Lions are working to put up another nice record in spite of NCAA sanctions.
