Virginia’s Anthony Harris ejected for bad targeting call

The safety clearly led with his shoulder, but he’s out of the game anyway.

Virginia Cavaliers safety Anthony Harris was ejected for targeting when he hit Miami Hurricanes quarterback Stephen Morris, despite the fact that his shoulder was very clearly the thing that made contact with Morris' head.

The play was somehow upheld after review, and now Harris will miss the first half of the Cavaliers’ in-state showdown against Virginia Tech. Good gracious, what a disaster of a call. It’s possible that the official upheld the call after review because Harris did leave his feet to hit a sliding quarterback, but he clearly didn’t make contact with the crown of his helmet.
