LSU vs. Texas A&M 2013 reactions and highlights: Tigers shut down Manziel again

LSU finally put it all together against Texas A&M, coming away with a big SEC victory.

LSU and Texas A&M squared off in a major SEC showdown Saturday -- even with both teams knocked out of the conference title race. The Tigers' defense has struggled at times this season, and some speculated Johnny Manziel may be able to do some damage to LSU's secondary. That turned out to not be the case, as LSU won with ease by a final score of 34-10, ending Manziel's Heisman hopes.

And the Valley Shook said the game was a return to old form for LSU, and something the fans had been waiting for a while.

This is the team we thought we would see all year. Dominating on defense, relentless on offense. A power run game that gets stronger as the game goes on, setting up a passing game that can make a big play at any moment.

Manziel’s struggles against LSU are not new, and Good Bull Hunting saw some of his more consistent problems flair up in the game.

1. This is how many career touchdowns Manziel has against LSU in two games. He has seven in two games against #1 Alabama teams. IT’S SOME KIND OF LES MILES VOODOO IS WHAT IT IS.

2. Turnovers. For a negative 2 differential because we forced none. Both were just not very good throws by Johnny: the first an awkward misread that should have sailed way out of bounds if he was trying to throw it away, and the second just another case of him trying to force it in the red zone yet again.

LSU took an early lead on two straight touchdowns -- one from Jeremy Hill, and one a pass from Zach Mettenberger to Jarvis Landry -- and after an A&M field goal the Tigers scored again on a longer pass from Mettenberger to Landry to make it 21-3.

Texas A&M responded with its only touchdown of the game, as Manziel found Derel Walker for a 51-yard score, but the Tigers scored 13 unanswered in the second half to coast to the 34-10 victory.
