The 2013 college football season has seen its fair of players go down with season-ending injuries, but one of the basic assumptions made by the football-viewing public is that the team mascots, at least, are safe from the carnage that takes place on the gridiron.
Mississippi State mascot injured by ESPN TV cart
The Bulldogs won the Egg Bowl in overtime but lost a valued member of the team in the process.

That was not the case in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s Egg Bowl win by Mississippi State against Ole Miss, when the student acting in the capacity of the Bulldogs’ “Bully” mascot was clipped by an ESPN TV cart. Mississippi State said on Friday morning that the student suffered a compound fracture and had surgery on Thursday night to repair the injury.
