GIF: Was Devin Gardner down on key fumble?

Ohio State takes advantage of a Devin Gardner fumble that was questionable at best.

Ohio State has just taken a 28-21 lead on Michigan, its latest touchdown coming as the result of a Devin Gardner fumble. Except... it might not have been a fumble. Observe.

That’s Gardner’s knee coming down, then the hit coming to dislodge the ball, which Ohio State went on to recover.

Incredibly, the officials confirmed the call after a relatively brief review, which boggles the mind. Perhaps a case could be made that the call would stand absent indisputable evidence, but there’s no clear shot that shows the ball out with Gardner still up; quite the contrary.

The Buckeyes marched down the field for the go-ahead score, and that’s where we are.
