Tuesday’s college football schedule: Game times, previews for Week 11 MACtion

Tuesday night MACtion is here to welcome you properly to Week 11 of the college football schedule. Ohio meets Buffalo with first place in the MAC East on the line, and Bowling Green will take on a struggling Miami (Ohio) team in another game that could impact the East title.

Ohio recovered from a season-opening loss at Louisville to win six of seven games, making the Bobcats bowl-eligible for the fifth straight year under Frank Solich. Buffalo is one of the surprise teams in the conference; after winning only four games in 2012, the Bulls have matched that total in conference play alone.

Bowling Green has games against both of those fellow division contenders to come, but the Falcons are going to have to handle Miami first. That’s not expected to be difficult, so you’ll want to keep your attention primarily on the other game. Unless of course the MAC gifts us with a few more twists and turns in the late stages.

Rankings and records: Buffalo checks in at 6-2 (4-0), Ohio is 6-2 (3-1), Bowling Green is 5-3 (3-1) and Miami is 0-8 (0-4). None made the polls this week.

Vegas: Buffalo opened as a 2.5-point favorite over Ohio, while Bowling Green opened as a 24.5-point favorite over Miami.

Weather: The high in Buffalo will be in the mid-50s, with temperatures dropping into the 40s at night. There’s a slight chance of rain. The high in Oxford, Ohio, for Miami-BGSU is expected to reach the low 60s, and there’s a small chance for rain there also.

Travis Greene -- Greene is an important part of Bowling Green’s attack, and like Oliver, he is one of the top rushers in the conference. He has 906 yards on the ground so far, put him easily on pace to crack 1,000 yards after carrying the ball just once in 2012.

Buffalo’s undefeated start to league play has it on top of the East, but its slim lead could be a thing of the past by the end of the night. A victory over the Bobcats would improve the Bulls’ position considerably. Ohio, meanwhile, would move into a tie for first with a victory, and it would hold a key head-to-head tiebreaker.

Bowling Green also has its eye on the East title, and with one league loss already, the Falcons can’t afford to drop a game to one of the league’s worst teams. Miami has reached the unfortunate play-for-pride portion of the season; the RedHawks had any hopes of a postseason appearance dashed weeks ago.

TV: The game between Bowling Green and Miami will air on ESPNU, while Ohio-Buffalo will be on ESPN2. Both games start at 8 p.m. ET.
