Stanford draws first blood against Oregon, leads 7-0 after first quarter

Oregon and Stanford traded punts to open the game, but things started to get interesting when Bralon Addison’s long punt return gave Oregon a short field in Stanford territory.

But the Ducks' drive stalled out inside the 10-yard line when Marcus Mariota's pass fell incomplete, forcing a turnover on downs at the Stanford 4-yard line. The Cardinal responded with a brusing 12-play, 96-yard touchdown drive capped by Tyler Gaffney's 2-yard touchdown run. Kevin Hogan's 47-yard bomb to Michael Rector put Stanford in position to set up the score.

Through one quarter, the Stanford defense has held Oregon to just 57 total yards on 18 plays.
