Missouri rebounded from its heartbreaking loss to South Carolina with a thrashing of Tennessee. Can the Tigers do the same against a lowly Kentucky team?

The Tigers took the SEC by storm early this year, opening up 7-0 with conference wins over Vanderbilt, Georgia and Florida. Up against South Carolina, it looked like the Tigers were going to stroll to another win over a ranked foe, but Connor Shaw led an historic comeback and Missouri missed a makeable field goal in double overtime, handing the Tigers a 27-24 loss.
Kentucky’s first year under Mark Stoops has gone about as well as could be expected from Kentucky football, with wins over Miami (OH) and Alabama State. The Wildcats lost their opener to Western Kentucky, but have managed to play both South Carolina and Louisville close.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Missouri is ranked No. 8 in the BCS standings, and at 8-1 (4-1) is in first place in the SEC East. Kentucky is 2-6, with an 0-4 record in conference play, putting them at the bottom of the division. The Wildcats have a 2-1 lead in the all-time series, but last beat the Tigers in 1968.
Vegas: Missouri opened as a 14-point favorite. The over/under opened at 56.5.
Weather: A high of 60 and partly cloudy skies.
Three names to know
L'Damian Washington. The Missouri wide receiver is averaging a touchdown per game, and at nearly 20 yards per catch is a significant deep threat.
E.J. Gaines. The Tigers have a habit of forcing turnovers, and Gaines leads the team with four interceptions.
Jalen Whitlow. Kentucky's sophomore quarterback is talented, and has ten total touchdowns this season. He'll need to hold on to the ball against an impressive Tigers defense.
Two things at stake
Missouri controls its own destiny in the SEC East, but one loss could hand it to South Carolina.
A win for Kentucky would give it momentum heading into the final run of its season, with bowl eligibility still a possibility.
