How to watch Appalachian State vs. Georgia: Preview, TV time, odds and more

Here is the television and radio information you need to catch the game between the Mountaineers and Bulldogs on Saturday.

Georgia is coming off a win over Florida that ended up being a lot closer than the Bulldogs would have liked. UGA shouldn’t have any such concerns this week against an Appalachian State team that is struggling during its transition to the FBS level.

The Mountaineers have won only two games this season, making the national title teams of yesteryear look like distant memories. ASU compiled its losing record against an FCS schedule, which is reason enough to think it won’t be able to give the Bulldogs much of a run on Saturday. The Mountaineers are giving up 5.6 yards per play against that level of competition, and that does not bode well.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Georgia comes into the weekend 5-3 (4-2) and unranked in the major polls. Appalachian State is 2-7.

Vegas: Georgia opened as a 31.5-point favorite, per Odds Shark, and the over-under was set at 62.5.

Weather: Sunny skies and a high of 65 are expected in Athens.

Three names to know

Aaron Murray -- Murray is completing 62.2 percent of his throws while averaging nearly 275 passing yards per game. He should be in line for a big game, though his raw stats may end up being limited if he gets pulled early because the team builds a large lead.

Kameron Bryant -- Bryant keys the ASU offense, though he isn't the threat to run the ball like some Mountaineers quarterbacks in the past. He's completing 73.2 percent of his throws and has just three interceptions in 172 attempts.

Brendan Douglas/J.J. Green -- Gurley has been banged up this season and was seen limping after the Florida game, so he might not receive a lot of work under the circumstances. That could mean a healthy dose of Green and Douglas, who have proven capable replacements this season.

Two things at stake

Georgia would become bowl eligible with a victory, avoiding an embarrassing loss in the process. This out-of-conference breather comes at a good time for UGA, what with a road trip to Auburn coming up the following week. That’s the only ranked team that remains on the Bulldogs’ regular-season schedule.

Appalachian State would have easily its marquee win of the season were it to top the Bulldogs. The Mountaineers’ transitional status leaves them ineligible for any sort of postseason play, but that’s out the window already, anyhow.
