Vanderbilt vs. Florida final score: Commodores defeat Gators, 34-17

Vanderbilt hadn’t beaten Florida in Gainesville since 1945, and Will Muschamp’s hot seat grows ever warmer.

The Vanderbilt Commodores moved within a game of bowl eligibility with a big road win over the Florida Gators on Saturday afternoon, 34-17.

The Commodores pounded the football on the ground early and often with a lot of success. While they only averaged 2.9 yards per-carry, Jerron Seymour pounded his way into the end zone for three touchdowns and 62 yards.

Where Vandy won this game was on the defensive side of the ball. They intercepted Tyler Murphy three times and held UF to just 39 rushing yards. If there was a bright side to the day for Florida, it was this touchdown catch:

That’s not much of a bright spot.

Box Score Hero:

Jerron Seymour: 24 carries, 62 yards, 3 TD

Tyler Murphy: 30/46, 305 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT

Rankings Ramifications: Neither team came in ranked, and while it’s an impressive road win for Vandy, it likely won’t be enough to get them into the top-25.

But Did They Cover? The Gators came in as a 10-point favorite. They obviously failed to cover the spread.
