Miami Hurricanes debuting gray ‘smoke’ uniforms

The Miami Hurricanes will be debuting a new uniform against Virginia Tech, referred to by their official twitter account as "The Smoke."

The biggest change is a gray jersey in place of their usual orange, and the helmet has the center stripe removed. Pictures so far haven’t shown a clear view, but it also looks like the bottom of the helmet starts gray like the jersey and fades into white. The Hurricanes have a famous stadium entrance where the team runs onto the field through a cloud of smoke, so that’s probably the best guess as to the inspiration for these uniforms.

Miami has previously tinkered with their uniforms, wearing several Nike Pro Combat uniforms, but they haven’t made changes to their uniform since the 2010 season.
