USC’s Silas Redd, Tre Madden might miss Las Vegas Bowl

Leg issues could keep a pair of USC running backs out of their Las Vegas Bowl matchup against Fresno State.

The USC Trojans might be down two running backs when they take on Fresno State in the Las Vegas Bowl, as Silas Redd and Tre Madden are both dealing with injuries, according to Ryan Abraham of USCFootball.com. Redd has a knee injury that will probably keep him sidelined and Madden is questionable with a lingering hamstring issue.

Madden is the team's leading rusher with 703 yards on the season, but he hasn't gone for over 100 yards since Sep. 28 against Arizona State. Redd has only played in six games this year and has 376 yards and a touchdown. He missed two games in November before playing in the regular season finale against UCLA, but only carried the ball five times in that game. If both Madden and Redd can't play, the Trojans will lean heavily on Javorius Allen to carry the load.

Missing both Madden and Redd would be a big blow to USC. The Trojans need to control the pace of the game against Fresno State, who would be more than happy to turn this game into a shootout. If they can’t run the ball effectively, Fresno will be able to dictate the pace, and that could be very dangerous for USC.
