Former Florida and Boise State offensive coordinator Brent Pease, who was fired shortly after the Gators completed their dismal 4-8 season, will join Chris Petersen’s staff at Washington, according to Chris Vannini at coachingsearch.com. What role Pease will take with the Huskies is not yet clear.

Pease spent two seasons in Gainesville, and neither campaign showed quality results from his offense, especially for a fanbase that grew accustomed to high-scoring attacks under Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. In 2012, Florida went 11-2, but that was despite averaging just 334 yards and 27 points per game, ranking 12th and 10th in the SEC. This season, the Gators put up a meager 317 yards and 19 points per contest, ranking last in the conference in both categories.
Injuries decimated the depth chart, but head coach Will Muschamp, on the hot seat himself, decided to make a change. Muschamp hasn’t hired a replacement.
The move to Washington will reunite Pease and Petersen, who coached together at Boise State for five years. Pease served as the Broncos’ wide receivers coach from 2006 to 2010, and he was offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2011. During his one season as Boise State OC, the Broncos averaged 44 points and 481 yards per game.
