Washington DL coach Tosh Lupoi denies allegations

Lupoi used a rather unconventional medium to speak on his situation.

Otto Greule Jr

On Wednesday evening, a Los Angeles Times report detailed an investigation into Washington defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi and allegations of providing improper benefits to a former recruit.

Responding to the report, Lupoi took a break from his bowl game preparations Thursday to deliver a short statement denying those claims, calling them “untrue.” The extent of that statement can be found below:

Lupoi first made his name as California’s defensive line coach, where he became known for his recruiting prowess by bringing several high profile players to the Golden Bears. He left for Washington in early 2012 to serve in the same capacity.

It should be noted that this is not the first run-in Lupoi has had with the rules, having committed a “secondary” violation back in spring by publicizing the visit of a potential recruit.
