North Dakota State’s Craig Bohl leaving for Wyoming, CBS reports

Wyoming hires one of the premier coaches in the FCS to be its new head coach.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

After creating an FCS dynasty at North Dakota State, Craig Bohl will have an opportunity to work his magic at the FBS level with the Wyoming Cowboys. According to a report by Bruce Feldman, Bohl has been hired by Wyoming to replace Dave Christensen, who was fired following the Cowboys' disappointing 5-7 finish.

It would be difficult to understate Bohl’s accomplishments at North Dakota State. During his 11 years in Fargo, Bohl has won 101 games and led the Bison to consecutive FCS championships. After drubbing Furman 38-7 on Saturday, he’s three games away from making it three in a row. NDSU’s program is so respected that College GameDay filmed its live show on location in Fargo in advance of the Bison’s matchup against Delaware State.

Bohl has turned North Dakota State into such a powerhouse that some coaches view his decision to make the move to the FBS as a step down.

Even at the FCS level, Bohl was stealing recruits away from college football’s premier subdivision. Now he’ll have an opportunity lure those prospects to come play for him at Wyoming.
