Cayleb Jones appears to be in hot water in Austin. Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com reports that the sophomore Texas Longhorns wide receiver is being charged for aggravated assault after reportedly fracturing the jaw of Joseph Swaysland, a Longhorn tennis player.

According to Carter Strickland of ESPN, Jones is being charged with a second degree felony for aggravated assault. The reason for the incident appeared to stem from the nature of the relationship with volleyball player Katherine Bell. Jones and Bell had been in a relationship that went sour and the football player had threatened Swaysland in the past.
Mack Brown has suspended the wide receiver as a result. “Cayleb Jones has been suspended from all team activities pending the completion of the legal process.”
Jones was a highly heralded receiver in the 2012 recruiting class. He was a local prospect who played only a few miles from the Texas campus. But he didn't do much for Texas in his freshman campaign, catching two passes for 35 yards and rushing once for ten yards. However, he figured to be one of the many contenders vying for a starting receiver spot. Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley still figure to be the top two candidates to start for the Longhorns at wide receiver come 2013, but another spot remains wide open.
