Spring football 2013: Missouri, Georgia Tech, Alabama updates

Pat Washington is the new wide receivers coach of the Tigers, and he has a lot of talent on his sidelines. It starts with the electric Dorial Green-Beckham, but also L'Damian Washington, Jimmie Hunt, Bud Sasser and Darius White figure to get involved in the action.

Roll Bama Roll has an update on defensive changes in spring practice. One prominent player who's been moving around is Xzavier Dickson, who has rotated between the defensive ends and linebackers over the first several practices. While the defensive line is primarily set with the two-deep all stacked, the linebacking corps is not as settled with only three scholarship inside linebackers available to practice. Reggie Ragland and Tana Patrick are looking to battle for the spot C.J. Mosley would occupy if he were healthy.

From the Rumble Seat relays the first post-practice report from Day 1. The Yellow Jackets put four quarterbacks on the field, including sophomores Vad Lee and Tim Byerly, along with redshirt freshman Justin Thomas. Synjyn Days has moved to work with the A-backs, and Catlin Alford is currently working with the first team along the offensive line.

Brad Denny at House of Sparky penned an excellent feature about offensive lineman Jamil Douglas. Douglas had to recover from an arrest and suspension to get back onto the field, and now he's grown into one of ASU's most critical players, as he was the team's starting left guard in 2012. Douglas will look to learn new things from his new position coach Chris Thomsen.
